Choose the right dog for you and your family

Often I hear people and families choose a specific dog breed purely from the point of view they’ve always had that specific dog breed since childhood.

These families share with me how they know that specific dog breed and how it always worked for them. At the same time, I find myself sitting in front of these families during their doggy’s assessment.

Two very important factors to consider and to take into account are YOUR LIFESTYLE and YOUR ENVIRONMENT.

When choosing a dog for you and your family what is your lifestyle AT PRESENT? Not your lifestyle of 5, 10, 15 or even 20 years ago. Our lives, environments, lifestyles and work/home time change over time.
Dog Relaxing

Choosing the best dog for you and your family is a very personal decision. Your dog should be compatible with your family’s lifestyle, living situation and living environment.

If you and your family are engaged in sports and outdoor activities, living an active lifestyle, you will enjoy an active dog.
But if you and your family tend to stay indoors then you should choose a dog with a similar temperament.

Larger breeds are suitable for families that own their own homes with a significant amount of space and back yard for your dog to play and exercise.
If you live in a flat, smaller breeds are best for you.

REMEMBER: It is your great responsibility to have a dog and to take your dog on much deserved and needed walks. Even having a big back yard does not exempt you from taking your dog out for walks and exercise. No matter how big or small your dog is.
